Starting as a lowly art director with FCB in Johannesburg working my way up to the Creative Director/Regional Creative Director (Africa) with McCann Erikson and Creative Director with OgilvyInteractive (Ireland). Then co-founding my own ad agency and spanning an advertising career of some 30 years, in over 20 countries throughout Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean. On major brands such as Coca Cola, BMW, Toyota, Unilever, and Cable & Wireless. I'd say I have developed quite a bit of experience and insight into the dark arts of persuasion. So much so I won numerous gongs for creativity, art direction, and Effective Advertising.
So where does this bring me now?
On returning to the UK in 2004 and what seemed like a lifetime of persuading people to buy things they don't want or need. I had a feeling/desire to try and in some way payback for the hedonist and selfish path I had persuaded over the past 30 years. Whilst I still needed a job to pay the bill, I need to do some personal psychological payback. So I took up some volunteer work that actually helps, as opposed to intellectual "rape and Pilage".
